Roy Halladay

As good as Johan Santana undeniably is, I’m starting to think Roy Halladay is now the best pitcher is baseball.  And I am lucky to have both on my fantasy baseball team this year.

Santana’s career numbers may be better, but he’s also never competed in the AL East. It’s pretty likely that Johan’s stats would be inflated if he had been playing
the Yankees and Red Sox 38 times/season over the past decade.   And he’s certainly benefited from the move to the National League as well.

Roy Halladay consistently gets the best of the AL’s best teams and I love his ability to pitch complete games.  He’s pitched 25 complete games in the last 4 years alone.  I’d love to know how many of those have been pitched by the rest of baseball in the same time period.  Halladay won the AL Cy Young Award in 2003.  He arguably should have won it last year too. I predict there will be no argument this season.
